Operator Instacart: AI Engagement Manager

Manages end-to-end AI platform engagements with B2B partners, orchestrating cross-functional workflows and ensuring customers reach value adoption milestones.

What this role involves

We're transforming the grocery industry

At Instacart, we invite the world to share love through food because we believe everyone should have access to the food they love and more time to enjoy it together. Where others see a simple need for grocery delivery, we see exciting complexity and endless opportunity to serve the varied needs of our community. We work to deliver an essential service that customers rely on to get their groceries and household goods, while also offering safe and flexible earnings opportunities to Instacart Personal Shoppers.

Instacart has become a lifeline for millions of people, and we’re building the team to help push our shopping cart forward. If you’re ready to do the best work of your life, come join our table.

Instacart is a Flex First team

There’s no one-size fits all approach to how we do our best work. Our employees have the flexibility to choose where they do their best work—whether it’s from home, an office, or your favorite coffee shop—while staying connected and building community through regular in-person events. Learn more about our flexible approach to where we work.

Overview

The Enterprise AI Pod is a forward-deployed, field-first unit within Instacart's Enterprise Solutions team — purpose-built to take the Instacart Intelligence Platform to market with B2B retail and CPG partners. As the AI Engagement Manager, you are the operational backbone of the engagement — the person who makes complex, multi-stakeholder AI engagements actually move. This is an orchestration role, not a commercial one; success is measured by getting partners to value, not by signings or P&L. You own the partner relationship from discovery through workflow adoption, hold the team accountable to delivery, and serve as the primary bridge between field execution and R&D — all while managing multiple engagements simultaneously in an environment where the playbook is still being written.

About the Job

  • Own the full AI engagement arc. From first discovery through sustained workflow adoption — serving as the external partner's single point of contact across every phase while driving scope, timelines, milestones, and escalations and keeping cross-functional workstreams aligned and moving. There is no "launch and hand off" in this model.
  • Drive requirements and delivery precision. Shape engagement structure, align on objectives, translate partner needs into a clear execution plan, and track against it with rigor. Surface risks early and keep stakeholders — partner and internal — ahead of problems, not behind them.
  • Champion continuous quality. In AI engagements there's no single gate — value is proven iteratively. You oversee the testing and feedback loops that ensure the platform is performing against real partner workflows, track adoption progress, and stay on top of the change management work that determines whether a deployment becomes a lasting behavior change.
  • Hold the R&D feedback loop. You are accountable for ensuring field learnings flow back to R&D and that R&D delivers on agreed roadmap commitments. When either side of the loop breaks down, you own the escalation.
  • Build playbooks. Identify reusable patterns across engagements and turn them into scalable delivery frameworks the whole pod can use. We are early; what you build now will become the foundation for how this team operates at scale.
  • Own engagement economics. Track the full cost structure of every active engagement — resource allocation across the pod, time spent per workstream, and cost card inputs — and maintain a running view of cost-to-deliver across the portfolio. Surface cost/benefit signals to inform prioritization and go/no-go decisions on new engagements. As the pod scales, your cost data becomes the foundation for delivery efficiency benchmarks.
  • This is a field-first role. Travel is part of the job — expect to be on-site at partner locations during key engagement phases, with travel that could reach 50%+ at peak. Presence matters in this model.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years in technical project management, enterprise engagement management, or a related field — with a track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder technical programs end to end to external enterprise clientele.
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs across the full software development lifecycle — from requirements definition and scoping through build, test, and launch — including the ability to identify and manage risk, develop detailed work plans, and allocate resources across concurrent workstreams.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to hold credible conversations with partner engineering teams, understand AI/ML implementations and integration dependencies, and manage technically complex delivery workstreams without being the technical expert in the room.
  • Experience building and maintaining engagement cost models — tracking resource utilization, time allocation, and cost inputs across concurrent programs and translating those into cost/benefit analysis that informs business and deal-level decisions.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and time management skills, paired with a sharp attention to both details and overarching project objectives. An expert in facilitating highly productive internal and external meetings - and creating assets and processes which drive project clarity at every step.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where structure doesn't yet exist.
  • Proficiency across program management tools (Jira, Asana, Smartsheet), collaboration and documentation platforms (Confluence, Google Workspace), and executive-level presentation tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides).
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness to travel ~50% within North America.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing AI, data platform, or systems integration deployments at enterprise scale.
  • Background in retail tech, e-commerce, operations, or CPG.
  • Experience working at the intersection of engineering, product, and commercial teams.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI platforms, LLM APIs, or RAG-based systems — enough to be conversant with partners and contextualize where Instacart's platform fits.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce), BI and reporting platforms (Tableau, Looker, Power BI), and workshop facilitation tools (Miro, Lucidspark) — enough to stay aligned with pipeline, interpret engagement metrics, and run a working session when needed.
  • PMP or equivalent program management credentials.
  • Prior work in a forward-deployed, embedded, or startup environment.

Operator Applied AI Engineer at Derivative Path

Designs, builds, and deploys LLM-powered features and agentic workflows for financial risk management platforms, bridging AI experimentation and production engineering.

Mid Hybrid Posted 1 day ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Who We Are

Derivative Path empowers institutions across the capital markets with innovative, AI-driven technology and expert advisory solutions. Our award-winning cloud platform supports banks, credit unions, private equity firms, hedge funds, asset managers, and insurance companies in managing interest rate, FX, and commodity risks, optimizing hedging strategies, and streamlining cross-border payments. With a client base spanning over 250 financial institutions and leading private equity firms, we deliver scalable solutions that enhance risk management and drive operational performance. Through strategic partnerships with Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, FNBO, Q2, and Jack Henry, we provide best-in-class capabilities to help clients achieve their financial objectives in an ever-evolving market.

With a team of seasoned professionals comprised of decades of industry experience, Derivative Path offers a flexible, hybrid work environment to its 125+ employees with the ability to work remotely in Canada. The Company is dedicated to building a diverse environment and has an unwavering commitment to creating a sense of belonging for all employees.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join the AI Lab team within DerivativeEDGE. Reporting to the AI Lab lead, you will work closely with Engineering, Product, and domain experts to design, build, and ship AI-powered features in a complex, high-stakes financial environment. This is a hands-on engineering role. You will move between experimentation and production, work through ambiguous problems, and deliver AI capabilities that real clients use. Generic approaches do not get you far here. The expectation is that you learn the domain, move with urgency, and build things that hold up. The core of this role sits at the intersection of Generative AI, Agentic Workflows, and Data Engineering: building LLM-powered solutions, designing agents that can reason and act across complex workflows, and making sure the right data is available to support it all. Applied to financial derivatives, these are genuinely hard problems worth solving.

What You Will Do

  • Build and ship LLM-powered features across the DerivativeEDGE platform, working directly with domain experts to translate complex financial workflows into reliable AI capabilities.
  • Design and implement agentic workflows that can reason, act, and recover gracefully across multi-step processes in a production environment.
  • Own the data engineering layer that feeds AI systems: pipelines, retrieval architectures, context design, and data quality.
  • Move fluidly between experimentation and production. You will prototype quickly, evaluate honestly, and know when something is ready to ship.
  • Contribute to the AI Lab’s broader technical direction, including evaluations, tooling, MLOps practices, and the patterns the team builds on.
  • Depending on where projects take you, work may also touch NLP, model fine-tuning, synthetic data, or reinforcement learning. Curiosity and a willingness to build in new areas are expected

About You

  • You are someone who moves with purpose. You form a view based on what you know, test it against reality, and adjust as you learn. Ambiguity is not a blocker for you; it is just the nature of early-stage problems.
  • You are hands-on by preference. Writing code, building pipelines, running experiments: that is where you do your best thinking.
  • You are a quick study. Financial derivatives is a specialized domain and we do not expect you to know it coming in. What we do expect is genuine curiosity, because the depth you develop here will directly shape the quality of what you build.
  • You stay constructive. This is a team working on consequential problems in a demanding environment. When things go sideways, you focus on the path forward. Collaboration and good energy matter.
  • You are pragmatic about tools and languages. You reach for whatever the project calls for and stay open to better options as they emerge.

Qualifications

  • Building with LLMs: prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning, agents, or inference pipelines
  • Data engineering: designing and building pipelines that feed real workflows
  • ML or data science work, especially in complex or data-constrained environments
  • Working knowledge of Python and common AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain, or similar)
  • MLOps or production AI experience: getting models out of notebooks and into the real world
  • Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Experience with reinforcement learning or financial derivatives is a bonus, not a baseline.

Location

  • Canada

Benefits

  • Competitive bonus, base salary, and equity compensation
  • 23 days of PTO
  • Fully remote
  • RRSP contribution at 3%
  • Competitive health benefits

The expected salary for this position is $110k - $150k CAD and is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity. We will consider your skills, experience, and location when determining your pay.

Builds and deploys AI-powered tools and automations across retail brands, integrating systems and training teams to scale solutions that reduce manual work.

Mid Hybrid Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

CSC Generation is the AI-native holding company re-engineering omnichannel retail. We acquire iconic brands and transform them with Genesis, our operating platform combining a Data Fabric, Automation Engine, proprietary tools, and shared services to modernize operations, elevate customer experience, and expand margins. With $1B+ in revenue across 13 brands, our portfolio includes Sur La Table, Backcountry, One Kings Lane, and others that serve as real-world innovation labs.

Reports to: VP, Performance Marketing

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) preferred

About the Role

As our AI Solutions Engineer, you will build, deploy, and scale AI-powered tools and automations across CSC Generation’s portfolio of brands. This is a hands-on role that connects AI capabilities with real business processes — you will partner directly with teams, identify where automation creates leverage, and ship solutions that stick.

You will start in performance marketing and expand into operations, creative, and logistics wherever AI can unlock efficiency and scale. Success in your first 6–12 months means production automations are live, teams across multiple departments are actively using them, and measurable reductions in manual work are documented.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and deploy AI tools and automations across brands, including image processing, feed optimization, content generation, reporting, and process streamlining.
  • Connect software systems and APIs to create integrated workflows that scale across multiple brands with minimal reconfiguration.
  • Work directly with teams across departments to understand their manual processes and build AI-powered solutions that replicate and improve them.
  • Write scripts (Python, JavaScript) and design AI workflows using platforms like Claude, ChatGPT, and workflow automation tools (n8n, Zapier, Make, or similar).
  • Cross-connect data across platforms including Google Ads, Meta Ads, Google Analytics, Google Merchant Center, content management systems, and image libraries.
  • Scale proven tools to additional brands by adapting validated solutions for cross-brand deployment.
  • Train non-technical teams on AI tools and ensure sustained adoption and productivity gains.
  • Continuously identify high-impact automation opportunities by networking across the organization and prioritizing by ROI.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience building automations, integrations, or AI-powered tools in a marketing, e-commerce, or operations environment.
  • Proven experience building autonomous AI agents and architectures, moving beyond standard, linear workflow flows (e.g., n8n, Zapier) to design stateful, dynamic AI systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT, etc) nd the ability to design reliable, production-grade agentic workflows, prompts, and tool-calling schemas.
  • Comfortable writing Python and/or JavaScript to connect APIs, manage data pipelines, handle state, and build lightweight application layers for AI agents.
  • Experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make, etc) as a component of broader automated solutions.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing and e-commerce ecosystems, including platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads, Google Analytics, or Google Merchant Center.
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to independently identify business friction, propose agentic solutions, and ship without heavy direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with n8n specifically.
  • Hands-on experience infrastructure tools like MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar agentic frameworks.
  • Background in retail, DTC, or multi-brand e-commerce environments.
  • Experience training or onboarding non-technical users on new tools.

Why Join

The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.

  • Cross-Functional Impact: Work across marketing, e-commerce, creative, logistics, and operations. Your automations will touch every part of the business.
  • AI-First Environment: This isn’t an AI experiment. Get hands-on with the most advanced AI tools in market — from workflow automation to LLM-powered systems — and build a modern skill set that sets you apart.
  • Ownership from Day One: You will set your own priorities, identify your own opportunities, and ship solutions end-to-end. High performers are quickly entrusted with broader scope across the brand portfolio.
  • Competitive Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including paid time off, RRSP match, group benefits, and employee discounts across portfolio brands.

Interview Process

  1. Recruiter Screen - 30-minute call to cover background, role fit, and logistics.
  2. Take-Home Challenge - Build a working automation flow demo (2-3 days, open book). We’re evaluating problem-solving and AI fluency, not memorized syntax.
  3. Solution Review Interview - Walk us through your solution, then handle live modifications on the call. We’ll also assess how you communicate to non-technical stakeholders.
  4. In Person Interview - Details and logistics will be arranged with your recruiter.
  5. Reference Checks - We’ll ask for professional references and conduct checks in parallel with final steps.
  6. Offer - We move fast for the right candidate.

$75,000 - $85,000 a year

Operator Director, AI Engagements at Harbor.ai

Director leads AI implementation engagements with legal clients, owns strategy, configures AI systems, and works hands-on with teams to deploy production solutions.

Lead Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Harbor Labs is a new team within Harbor focused on solving hard AI implementation problems in the legal market. We have strong hypotheses about what works, but we’re building this like a startup: learning as we go, adjusting direction based on what the market tells us, and staying flexible about how we operate.

We’re looking for a Director of AI Engagements to lead our most important client relationships and set the strategy for how we deploy AI in production. This is a senior role for someone who can sit across the table from a GC or COO, shape the direction of an engagement, and then roll up their sleeves and build alongside the team to deliver it.

This is a leadership role, but not a hands-off one. You’ll own the strategy for your engagements and stay close enough to the work to configure systems, pressure-test outputs, and make the calls that determine whether AI actually sticks in a client’s day-to-day.

What Makes This Different:

Our edge is combining deep legal domain experience with product sensibility and strong engineering. We understand how legal teams actually work, what change management looks like in risk-averse environments, and how to build software that people will use. We also know the common pitfalls of enterprise software in traditionally low-innovation areas like law, and we’re determined to avoid them.

We focus on hard, novel problems where standard platforms fall short. The work is ambiguous, the solutions aren’t obvious, and that’s the point. As a senior leader here, you set the bar for how we approach those problems and how we show up with clients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the strategy for your engagements. Shape what success looks like with the client’s leadership, define the roadmap, and make the prioritization calls. You’re accountable for the outcome and the relationship, not just the deliverable.
  • Lead at the executive level. Be the trusted partner to GCs, COOs, and heads of legal operations. Translate where AI is heading into a concrete plan they can get behind, and bring skeptics along.
  • Stay hands-on with the work. Configure systems, structure knowledge sources, write and refine prompts, design test cases, and validate outputs against real data. You lead from inside the work, not above it.
  • Set direction for delivery. Define how an engagement is scoped, staffed, and sequenced. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers and delivery leads to turn an ambiguous business problem into a production system.
  • Design the operating model, not just the workflow. Figure out how AI changes the way a legal team operates: the processes, the roles, the governance. Redesign how the work gets done, then make the change actually happen.
  • Drive architecture and integration decisions. Partner with engineers on how AI fits into client tech stacks: APIs, data flows, security and compliance requirements. Hold the line on what’s production-grade.
  • Help build Harbor Labs itself. This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity. You’ll shape how we sell, how we deliver, who we hire, and where we go next.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You operate like an owner. You’ve run engagements, programs, or a function end-to-end and been accountable for the result. You set direction when there isn’t one and you don’t wait for permission to fix what’s broken.
  • You lead from the front, hands on the work. Seniority hasn’t pulled you away from the details. You’re as comfortable in a configuration screen or a prompt as you are in a boardroom, and you believe the two can’t be separated.
  • You’ve delivered real change in how teams work. You understand legal operations, professional services, or a comparable environment, and you’ve redesigned how people actually do their jobs, not just shipped a tool.
  • You’re deeply fluent in AI, but not captured by hype. You understand how these systems work in production: RAG architectures, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, evaluation methods. You know how to separate signal from noise when every vendor claims to be the next breakthrough.
  • You hold current model-provider credentials. Anthropic Academy certifications (AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations, Claude Code, Building with the Claude API, Model Context Protocol) are a strong plus, and current OpenAI Academy coursework counts too. We treat these as a real signal, not a checkbox: they show you’re building with today’s tools, not describing yesterday’s.
  • You’re technical-adjacent and unafraid of it. You don’t need to write Python all day, but you can read an API doc, reason about a system architecture, and have a credible conversation with engineers about tradeoffs.
  • You command a room at any level. Executive presentations, working sessions with skeptical users, hard conversations about scope and risk. You build trust fast and hold it under pressure.
  • You’re relentlessly practical. You care about what works in production and what changes client behavior, not what sounds impressive in a deck.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity. Harbor Labs is new and the market is evolving. You’ll set the playbook, not follow one.

Nice to Have:

  • Senior experience in legal operations, legal technology, or a transformation/innovation function
  • Track record leading client engagements in consulting or professional services
  • Experience at a product company (product, solutions, or delivery leadership)
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of AI development tools and LLM APIs

Why Harbor Labs:

We’re a small, senior team working on hard problems with clients who are serious about deploying AI in production. The work is hands-on, the ownership is real, and the leadership you exercise here will directly shape what this team becomes. This is early. You’ll have meaningful input into the strategy, the team, and what Harbor Labs grows into.

How to Apply:

Send us a note about why this role interests you and an engagement or initiative you led that you’re proud of, ideally one where you set the strategy and stayed close to the work. Examples and references matter more to us than a polished resume.

About Us:

Harbor is the preeminent provider of expert services across strategy, legal technology, operations, and intelligence. What this role involves

Harbor Labs is a new team within Harbor focused on solving hard AI implementation problems in the legal market. We have strong hypotheses about what works, but we’re building this like a startup: learning as we go, adjusting direction based on what the market tells us, and staying flexible about how we operate.

We’re looking for an AI Delivery Lead to join at the ground floor. This role sits at the critical intersection between our engineering team and our clients, translating ambiguous business problems into concrete AI solutions, then driving them across the finish line.

This is not a management role. You will be hands-on: building AI-powered applications and solutions, designing transformational workflows, running workshops, configuring systems, testing with real data, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with clients to make AI actually useful in their day-to-day work.

What Makes This Different:

Our edge is combining deep legal domain experience with product sensibility and strong engineering. What You’ll Do:

  • Own client delivery end-to-end. Lead engagements from problem definition through production deployment. You’re accountable for outcomes, not just activity.
  • Translate between business and engineering. Work with legal teams to understand what they actually need (not just what they say they want), then spec solutions our engineers can build.
  • Design AI-native workflows. Figure out where AI fits in existing processes, what needs to change, and how to make the human + AI collaboration actually work.
  • Get your hands dirty with the product. Configure systems, curate and structure knowledge sources, write prompts, design test cases, and validate outputs against real-world data.
  • Drive integrations and architecture decisions. Work with engineers to figure out how AI fits into client tech stacks: APIs, data flows, security requirements.
  • Run enablement and change. Train users and knowledge source owners on how to work with AI systems. Help people understand what AI can and can’t do, and design around both.
  • Help build Harbor Labs itself. This is a ground-floor opportunity. You’ll shape how we work, what we build, and where we go next.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You define problems, not just solve them. You don’t build to spec. You challenge assumptions, ask hard questions, and carve a path through unstructured, complex problem spaces. You can develop a vision when there isn’t one.
  • You’ve shipped AI products or implementations. You understand how these systems actually work: RAG architectures, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, evaluation methods. You’ve seen what breaks in production.
  • You’re deeply fluent in AI, but not captured by hype. You follow what’s happening in the space closely and understand current best practices. You also know how to separate signal from noise when every vendor is claiming to be the next breakthrough.

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity. Harbor Labs is new. The market is evolving. You’ll need to figure things out without a playbook.

Nice to Have:

  • Background in legal technology, legal operations, or enterprise software
  • Experience at a product company (PM, solutions engineering, customer success)
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of AI development tools and LLM APIs
  • Experience in consulting or professional services environments

Operator Coinbase: Forward Deployed Engineer, Compliance [Office of the CTO]

Embeds with Compliance teams to identify automation opportunities, prototypes AI solutions using existing platforms, and drives adoption of AI tooling across the organization.

Mid Remote Posted 3 days ago We Work Remotely — Programming
What this role involves

Headquarters: Remote - USA

Ready to do the most impactful work of your career? At Coinbase, we are uncompromising on our mission to increase economic freedom. The bar is high, the environment is intense, and we like it that way. This isn't a place for complacency, it’s a place to be pushed past your perceived limits. If you're ready to build the future of finance alongside people who refuse to settle for "good enough," you belong here. Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase.

Coinbase's Compliance organization manages regulatory obligations across products, operations, and growth — spanning transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam readiness across 60+ global entities. This role sits directly inside the Office of the CTO, embedded as a founding engineer within Compliance. You'll identify high-value workflow opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions using Coinbase's existing AI platform, and drive measurable adoption of AI tooling across the Compliance org. You'll be the connective tissue between Compliance stakeholders and the engineering teams who maintain Coinbase's AI platform, acting as advocate, translator, and builder in one.

What you'll do:

  • Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface the automation opportunities with the greatest business leverage — developing ground-level understanding of workflows like transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam preparation.
  • Prototype quickly and pragmatically using Coinbase's existing AI platform as the default foundation before recommending net-new builds.
  • Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance leadership, translating complex regulatory workflows — case resolution, trade surveillance, risk assessment, policy management — into engineering requirements and engineering constraints back to stakeholders clearly.
  • Define the build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling, evaluating what Coinbase should build internally, adopt from partner teams, procure from vendors, or retire.
  • Ensure every automated compliance output is traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators — with auditability, approval gates, evidence retention, and human-in-the-loop controls as first-class design concerns, not afterthoughts.
  • Drive adoption through brown-bags, prototype walkthroughs, and feedback loops that bring Compliance teams along on the journey and ensure tools actually get used.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a demonstrated ability to ship production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments, with greenfield experience a strong plus.
  • Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design for high-stakes compliance outputs.
  • Proven ability to embed with non-technical domain experts, rapidly internalize complex workflows, and translate them into engineering requirements.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory systems concepts: transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, case management, and audit-ready data handling.
  • Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration concepts including how agent systems handle handoffs, escalation, and auditability.
  • Experience in a Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory capacity, ideally in compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services environments.
  • Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

We build AI and data fusion solutions that help government agencies and national security organisations connect intelligence from across domains - cyber, physical, financial, and location - and turn it into decisions that protect people. The work is meaningful, the problems are hard, and the impact is real.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data & AI Technical Lead to work closely with our Principal Data Engineer - taking ownership of technical design and architecture across data and AI systems, and acting as a reliable force multiplier for the team. This is a hands-on role - you design and you build.

The scope spans the full data and AI layer: how data flows between systems, how it is shaped for AI consumption, how agents and services are architected to work together reliably at scale. You’ll work in close partnership with the Principal Data Engineer, jointly shaping the architecture and evolution of the Data & AI domain. You’ll be expected to independently make and own technical decisions, drive initiatives from design through production, and provide technical leadership across the team.

You’ll work across teams and contribute to shaping how we approach Data Fusion: bringing together signals from heterogeneous systems and turning them into actionable insights through AI and data engineering. This requires someone who can hold the big picture in their head while still caring deeply about the details of implementation.

Beyond architecture, you’ll own the technical execution of initiatives within the Data & AI domain - driving work from design through production, making trade-off decisions, coordinating with adjacent teams, and staying accountable for systems after they go live.

We write code with AI - tools like Claude Code and Cursor are a core part of how we work at every level, including this one. At Technical Lead level we expect not just fluency but deliberate, opinionated use: knowing when to lean on AI, when to steer it hard, and when to step in entirely. This is a non-negotiable part of how we operate.

What You’ll Do

  • Co-own technical architecture and system design with the Principal Data Engineer - covering data pipelines, AI flows, agent systems, and service integration patterns
  • Lead design of data and AI flows across heterogeneous systems - defining how data is ingested, transformed, stored, retrieved, and consumed by agents and services
  • Make and document architectural decisions independently when needed, providing clear reasoning and trade-off analysis
  • Design and build MCP tools, RAG pipelines, and agent-facing APIs that connect AI systems to the data layer reliably
  • Develop backend services with FastAPI as part of an event-driven architecture - hands-on, not just advisory
  • Set and uphold engineering standards across the team: code quality, design patterns, review culture, and documentation practices
  • Mentor engineers across the team - particularly on system design, data modelling, and AI integration patterns
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools deliberately and help shape how the team uses them effectively
  • Own the evolution of the Data & AI domain architecture, identifying technical debt, improving system design, and ensuring the long-term scalability and reliability of the platform
  • Lead technical execution of initiatives from discovery to production - defining technical plans, driving implementation, overseeing rollout, and remaining accountable for post-release outcomes
  • Act as the technical point of contact for initiatives within the domain, coordinating with Product Managers, engineers, QA, and adjacent teams to ensure successful delivery
  • Collaborate closely with other Technical Leads and Principal Engineers to define shared interfaces, integration patterns, and cross-domain architectural decisions
  • Drive engineering excellence in production through observability, monitoring, testing strategies, and operational readiness
  • Participate in technical hiring and help shape the growth and technical direction of the Data & AI team

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong Python engineering background - production-grade code across data pipelines, backend services, and AI integrations; you write things that last and that others can extend
  • Data architecture experience - proven ability to design systems that handle data at scale: schema design, storage strategy, pipeline architecture, and data modelling for both analytical and AI workloads
  • AI systems design - solid understanding of how LLMs, agents, and retrieval systems fit together; experience designing or building RAG pipelines, multi-agent systems, or tool-augmented LLM workflows
  • Backend and API development - strong experience with FastAPI or equivalent; comfortable designing service contracts and integration patterns across systems
  • Event-driven architecture - hands-on experience designing and operating event-driven systems in production (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
  • Docker and containerisation - confident at developer and service level; able to reason about runtime environments and integration
  • Technical leadership without authority - you influence through technical credibility, clear communication, and good judgment; you can drive alignment across engineers with different perspectives
  • AI-first development - you code with AI tools as a genuine daily collaborator; at this level we expect you to have a formed point of view on how to use them well, not just a willingness to try
  • Ownership mindset - you see a problem and you own it through to resolution; you don’t wait for someone to hand you a scope
  • Adaptability - comfortable in exploratory, fast-moving environments where the right answer isn’t always obvious and requirements evolve
  • Delivery ownership - experience leading technical initiatives end-to-end, from requirements and architecture through implementation, rollout, and production support; comfortable owning outcomes, not just implementation
  • Cross-functional collaboration - ability to partner effectively with Product Managers, QA, and engineers across domains, balancing technical quality with delivery needs and business priorities
  • Systems ownership mindset - experience operating production systems, with a strong focus on observability, reliability, incident response, and continuous improvement after release

Nice to have:

AI & Agents

  • Experience with agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar)
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and tool-use patterns in LLM systems
  • Experience with vector databases or embedding-based retrieval
  • Prompt engineering at scale - versioning, evaluation, and systematic iteration
  • Deeper knowledge of LLMs, Neural Networks, concept of Fine Tuning, etc.

Data Engineering

  • Experience with columnar or analytical databases (ClickHouse or similar)
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similar)
  • Background working across heterogeneous data sources and integration patterns

Your perks

  • Working from home Hit your goals from the comfort of your home because we value the performance, not the place.
  • Flexible hours because we promote work-life balance.
  • Yearly performance bonus to reward good performance and hard work.
  • Paid medical insurance because we like to take care of you.
  • Daily lunch allowance so you can save lots of money, time, and effort by enjoying your free lunch at the office or home every day.
  • Sport/Gym(Exercise) allowance to focus more on yourself, your well-being, and your health.
  • Udemy unlimited subscription to promote your learning and development and grow your career.
  • Onboarding plan and training so that you have a smooth induction and feel confident and ready to take over your new role.
  • Equipment support so you have all the tools to do effectively and efficiently your work.
  • No dress code because we want you to be as comfortable as possible.
  • Gifts and rewards for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and personal milestones.
  • Happy hours, coffee time, online team building, company events, and much more to promote team bonding and of course to have fun!
  • Fresh fruit, snacks, coffee, and tea at the office because work makes us hungry!

Operator Tech Lead - Forward Deployed Engineering at Magical

Tech lead who deploys AI agents into customer environments, designs agentic workflows, debugs system issues, and mentors junior engineers on complex production implementations.

Lead Posted 5 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Magical is building an agentic AI platform that brings “AI employees” into the workplace to execute repetitive, operationally critical work.

Our agents help organizations move faster, reduce manual work, and improve outcomes in areas where reliability matters—particularly healthcare. We work directly with customers to understand complex workflows, deploy AI agents into real operating environments, and turn what we learn into a more powerful and scalable platform.

The shift toward agentic work is already underway, and we are building the infrastructure and deployment playbook that will define how it happens.

Magical is backed by Greylock, Coatue, Altman Capital, Lightspeed, and other investors behind companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, and Notion.

About the role

We are looking for a Tech Lead to raise the technical bar across Magical’s Forward Deployed Engineering team and take on our most difficult customer and platform challenges.

This is a highly senior individual-contributor role. You will remain deeply hands-on while providing technical leadership across multiple customers, deployments, and FDE workstreams.

You will step into complex or ambiguous situations, quickly understand what is going wrong, and lead the work required to solve it. You will also coach less experienced FDEs, review technical approaches, and help the broader team develop stronger judgment and execution skills.

You will report to the Head of Deployments and work closely with Forward Deployed Engineers, Deployment Strategy, Product, and Engineering.

What you’ll do

  • Take the lead on Magical’s most complex, high-risk, or technically ambiguous customer deployments.

  • Get hands-on in the work—designing agentic workflows, writing and improving prompts, building integrations, debugging failures, analyzing system behavior, and shipping production solutions.

  • Diagnose difficult issues across customer environments, integrations, agent performance, data quality, and platform behavior.

  • Provide technical leadership across multiple customers and teams rather than owning only a single project or account.

  • Review solution designs, implementation plans, testing strategies, and production-readiness for complex workflows.

  • Coach FDEs through technical problems and help junior team members develop stronger problem-solving, debugging, and systems-thinking skills.

  • Set an example for technical ownership, execution quality, urgency, and customer focus.

  • Identify risks, architectural weaknesses, and reliability issues before they become customer-facing problems.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to distinguish between deployment-specific issues and platform-level gaps.

  • Translate recurring customer challenges into reusable platform capabilities, internal tools, reference implementations, and technical standards.

  • Improve the team’s practices for testing, observability, debugging, incident response, documentation, and release management.

  • Help define what excellent Forward Deployed Engineering looks like at Magical.

What success looks like

  • Magical’s technical deployments are delivered on time and thoroughly.

  • Customer-facing issues are diagnosed accurately, with root causes addressed rather than repeatedly patched.

  • FDEs make better technical decisions and become more capable of solving complex problems independently.

  • Technical quality becomes more consistent across customers and workstreams.

  • Repeated implementations are converted into reusable tools, patterns, and platform improvements.

  • Product and Engineering receive clear, technically credible feedback from customer deployments.

  • The organization can take on more complex customers without relying on a small number of people to repeatedly rescue deployments.

About you

  • You have significant experience in software engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, solutions engineering, systems integration, implementation engineering, or a similarly hands-on technical role.

  • You have operated as a technical lead or senior individual contributor on complex, customer-facing software deployments.

  • You are comfortable moving across the full problem space—from understanding a customer workflow to debugging an integration, improving agent behavior, and shipping a reliable production solution.

  • You are an exceptional problem solver who can bring structure to unclear situations and make progress without complete information.

  • You have strong technical judgment and know when to fix a local implementation, change the architecture, or escalate a platform limitation.

  • You enjoy being hands-on and are willing to personally take on difficult implementation and debugging work.

  • You are able to influence and lead other engineers without relying on formal management authority.

  • You are a strong coach who can explain not only what should change, but how to think about the problem differently.

  • You communicate clearly with engineers, deployment teams, and customer stakeholders, especially when a project is under pressure.

  • You care deeply about production reliability, testing, observability, and solving the underlying cause of a problem.

  • You are deeply curious about AI agents, prompting, automation, and multi-agent systems. Prior experience is valuable, but strong technical fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly matter more.

  • You have a strong bias toward action and consistently demonstrate “show, don’t tell.”

  • You have high agency and can prioritize, make decisions, and unblock yourself and others without waiting for perfect information.

  • You are energized by early-stage environments where the technical playbook is still being created.

  • You are located in Toronto or willing to relocate.

A science, engineering, or similarly technical educational background is helpful, but we care more about what you have built, solved, and learned than where you studied.

The reality of the role

This is not an advisory or architecture-only position. You will be expected to get into the details, work directly in the implementation, and stay close to a problem until it is solved.

You may move between customers, technical domains, and urgent priorities quickly. Some periods will involve intense work, incomplete information, and problems that do not have an obvious owner or solution.

You should be excited by the opportunity to step into those situations, create clarity, and lead from the front.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to define the technical standard for Forward Deployed Engineering at Magical

  • Ownership of some of the company’s most important and technically difficult customer problems

  • A chance to work at the frontier of agentic AI and multi-agent systems

  • Significant influence over Magical’s product, platform, and deployment practices

  • A modern technical stack and access to leading AI tools

  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Team offsites, with past trips including Iceland, Lisbon, Cancún, and Costa Rica

Operator Mission Engineer - Sarasota at Axon Spain

Embedded engineer who builds and deploys AI agents, workflows, and automations on Axon's platform to solve customer operational problems end-to-end.

Senior Onsite Posted 5 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

This isn’t a relationship management role. It’s an ownership role. Sharp. Adaptable. Unstoppable.

You won’t wait to be asked. You’ll identify what’s broken before it becomes a problem, build solutions that didn’t exist yesterday, and earn the kind of trust that makes you indispensable to the agency — and to Axon.

In this embedded role, you are the primary owner of customer outcomes within a strategic account — accountable for the full lifecycle of Axon’s ecosystem. You combine deep technical expertise, builder instinct, operational leadership, and executive presence to help agencies transform how they operate, not just adopt software. You embed for the long haul: opening the laptop onsite, shipping on Axon’s stack, holding the room when it matters, and iterating on what you build until it sticks in production.

Success is measured by the agency’s operational outcomes and working solutions in production — not product health, not activity, not slideware.

What You’ll Do

This role is intentionally undefined in the day-to-day. Priorities shift with agency mission tempo, operational crises, and emerging opportunities. If you need a fixed playbook to succeed, this isn’t the role for you.

Building is the job. You will use Axon’s platform — AI Era, agents, workflows, integrations, and data tools — to design, build, and ship new capabilities on site. You own outcomes end to end across deployment, adoption, optimization, and ongoing success — as the accountable owner, not a coordinator of other teams’ work.

Onsite Building & Platform Delivery

  • Discover agency problems onsite and translate them into buildable, compliant solutions tied to mission outcomes
  • Design and ship working tools on Axon’s platform: AI agents, workflows, automations, integrations, and data pipelines — built and tested with real users and real data
  • Build with Axon products, not around them — configure, integrate, and extend DEMS, Fusus, AI Era, Records, and related systems in the agency environment
  • Iterate in the field until adoption sticks, then document patterns for reuse across accounts
  • Apply responsible innovation guardrails — CJIS, evidence integrity, privacy — in every build. Ship working software, not slideware
  • Troubleshoot onsite and coordinate root-cause resolution across Product, Engineering, Support, and Services when builds or integrations break

AI Build & Adoption

  • Build and deploy AI-powered workflows (agents, prompts, RAG, evaluations) that solve defined agency problems — not generic experimentation
  • Drive hands-on adoption with the people who use what you build daily
  • Measure whether changes stick — usage, workflow impact, mission outcomes — and iterate when they don’t

Operational Transformation & Leadership

  • Assess workflows onsite, identify friction and mission impact, and define what to build before you build it
  • Move from reactive support to proactive outcome design — arrive with hypotheses, validate with command staff and operators, then build to match
  • Build trusted relationships with agency leadership and operational stakeholders; lead QBRs, mission reviews, and strategic planning
  • Define success metrics and capture baselines before major deployments so impact is proven, not assumed

Field Intelligence & Growth

  • Capture customer insights, workflow patterns, and adoption barriers; share field intelligence with Product and Engineering to influence roadmap decisions
  • Turn one-off builds into reusable playbooks and operational frameworks
  • Identify expansion opportunities based on demonstrated impact; partner with Sales on long-term account strategy

Onsite Engagement & Outcomes

  • Maintain consistent onsite presence (approximately 3-4 days/week), closely connected to agency operations and evolving needs
  • Track customer success metrics: time-to-first-production-use, adoption depth by role and site, workflow improvements, and mission outcomes
  • Support Sales → Post-Sales onboarding and handoff, establishing goals and accountability from day one

What You Bring

Required

  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles, program management, operational transformation, or complex deployment environments (typically 8+ years; varied experience welcome)
  • Former law enforcement or military experience preferred, not required
  • Proven builder: you have shipped working automations, agents, workflows, integrations, or AI-enabled tools in customer environments — configuring products, writing integration logic, and delivering production-ready solutions. Using AI to assist is expected; owning the build is required
  • Comfort working across technical and operational domains: hardware, software, cloud, AI-enabled technologies, and integrated systems
  • Strong communication with both technical teams and senior stakeholders, including command staff in mission-critical environments
  • Full ownership mentality in ambiguous, fast-changing environments; ability to navigate competing priorities across Product, Engineering, Sales, Support, and Services
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS compliance and adhere to security standards

Preferred

  • Experience in public safety, law enforcement, corrections, or other mission-critical operational environments
  • Familiarity with Records, Evidence, digital workflows, AI-enabled platforms, or integrated public safety ecosystems
  • Background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions architecture, or operational transformation at scale

Additional Information

We recognize that candidates may bring strengths from different backgrounds and experiences. If your experience aligns closely with this role, we encourage you to apply.

This role is for builders who earn trust in the room — not for those looking for a predictable schedule or narrowly defined responsibilities. Every week looks different. That’s the job.

Benefits that Benefit You

  • Competitive salary and 401(k) with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
  • Paid parental leave for all
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Fitness programs
  • Emotional and mental wellness support
  • Learning and development programs
  • And yes, we have snacks in our offices

Don’t meet every single requirement? That’s ok. At Axon, we Aim Far. We think big with a long-term view because we want to reinvent the world to be a safer, better place. We are also committed to building diverse teams that reflect the communities we serve.

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they check every box in the job description. If you’re excited about this role and our mission to Protect Life but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification listed here, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Important Notes

The above job description is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all duties, responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job. The job description may change or be supplemented at any time in accordance with business needs and conditions.
