Mobile App Developer (WFH, Project-Based) at Kwanii

We are seeking a Mobile App Developer for a one-time, project-based engagement focused on the enhancement, optimization, and improvement of an existing mobile application.

The developer will be responsible for assessing the current application and its codebase, identifying performance issues and areas for improvement, implementing approved enhancements, and ensuring that existing functionalities remain stable and reliable. The role will involve debugging, code optimization, API integration, performance testing, and resolution of identified technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess the existing mobile application’s source code, architecture, functionality, and overall performance.
• Identify technical issues, performance bottlenecks, bugs, and areas requiring improvement.
• Enhance and optimize existing mobile application features based on the approved project requirements.
• Improve application speed, responsiveness, stability, and overall user experience.
• Refactor and optimize existing code to improve maintainability, efficiency, and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve existing application bugs, crashes, errors, and technical issues.
• Review and improve existing API integrations, database interactions, and backend connectivity, where applicable.
• Implement approved enhancements and modifications without compromising existing application functionality.
• Conduct functional, regression, compatibility, and performance testing after implementing enhancements.
• Ensure that existing features remain operational following modifications and optimizations.
• Identify potential technical risks and recommend practical solutions or improvements.
• Prepare the optimized application build for deployment or release, where applicable.
• Maintain proper version control of the modified source code.
• Provide technical documentation covering the implemented changes and relevant technical recommendations.
• Turn over the updated source code, documentation, credentials/access required for the project, and other agreed deliverables upon completion.
• Provide agreed post-project support for identified bugs or issues arising from the completed enhancements.
• Complete all project deliverables within the agreed project timeline and acceptance criteria.

Desirable Skills and Experiences

Must-haves

• Proven experience in mobile application enhancement, maintenance, or optimization.
• Demonstrable experience working with an existing mobile application or codebase.
• Portfolio or relevant project samples showing previous mobile application development work.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following:
  • Flutter / Dart
  • React Native / JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Android / Kotlin / Java
  • iOS / Swift
• Experience with API integration and backend connectivity.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of application performance optimization and code refactoring.
• Ability to understand and work with an existing codebase rather than developing an application entirely from scratch.
• Willingness to provide the updated source code, technical documentation, and complete project turnover upon completion.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience optimizing applications with existing users or production deployments.
• Experience resolving application crashes, slow performance, memory issues, and compatibility problems.
• Experience with Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, or similar monitoring tools.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Experience with Google Play Store and/or Apple App Store deployment.
• Experience optimizing API calls, database queries, and network performance.
• Experience working with legacy or previously developed mobile applications.
• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
