What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 8 or more years of professional software engineering experience with a demonstrated ability to design, build, and ship full-stack applications (frontend and backend) independently.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Python, Node.js/JavaScript, or comparable) and enough frontend ability to build usable internal tools without waiting on a dedicated design or frontend team.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.) to accelerate development, plus a working understanding of APIs, webhooks, data structures, and integration patterns.

Position Summary:

The Principal AIOps Engineer will build the platform that makes AI cheap, fast, safe, and observable at RxSense. As a direct report to the Director of AI Engineering, this role will own the infrastructure that every AI-powered product at RxSense depends on. This is a hands-on-keyboard position from day one, partnering with AI engineers, software engineers, data scientists, security, and finance to deliver deployment pipelines, agent runtime, eval frameworks, self-hosted model serving, and the developer harness that determines how fast every other engineer in the company can ship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain end-to-end deployment pipelines for AI-powered applications, including artifact builds, environment promotion, rollback, and observability hooks. Drive new greenfield deployment platforms from initial build to the default that AI teams ship on.
  • Stand up and operate the runtime and lifecycle infrastructure for production agents, including deployment, versioning, monitoring, rate-limiting, and retirement. Define the deployment contract (config, secrets, tools, memory, evals) and the operational SLOs.
  • Own how the organization provisions, rotates, scopes, and meters access to model provider APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, and others). Build a key management layer that enforces per-team and per-app quotas, prevents leakage, and gives finance and engineering a clear view of spend.
  • Build evals into the CI/CD pipeline so no agent or LLM-powered service ships without passing a defined eval bar. Design the framework so product teams can author their own evals against a shared harness, and so eval results gate promotion across environments.
  • Stand up self-hosted inference for workloads where managed APIs aren’t the right fit, including latency-sensitive paths, regulated data, cost optimization, and vendor redundancy. Own the serving stack, the autoscaling and GPU economics behind it, and the playbook for when a workload belongs to a managed provider versus internal infrastructure.
  • Design and build the shared developer harness that every AI-powered service uses: prompt management, model routing, retries, tracing, eval hooks, and policy enforcement. Set the abstractions that determine how fast every other AI engineer can ship for the next three years.
  • Partner with finance on cost visibility, including token accounting, per-feature cost attribution, and real-time spend observability.
  • Write documentation, runbooks, and clear interfaces so the platform is adoptable by other engineering teams without hand-holding.
  • Participate in code review and promote collaboration and best practices including simplicity, automation, sound design patterns, test coverage, and reusability.

Education/Experience/Competencies:

  • BS (or higher, e.g., MS or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 6+ years of platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering, with at least 2 years building production infrastructure for AI/ML or LLM-powered systems. We care more about depth and drive than years on a resume.
  • Deep hands-on experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for high-velocity engineering organizations, including artifact management, environment promotion, and progressive rollout.
  • Strong AWS background, comfortable down to the IAM, networking, and container orchestration layers.
  • Proven track record building developer platforms or internal tools that other engineering teams adopted by choice, not by mandate.
  • Production experience with LLM-powered applications, including prompt management, model routing, retries, tracing, and the operational realities of running agents or chains in production.
  • Hands-on coding fluency in Python or TypeScript, ideally both. This is a keyboard role, not an architecture-only role.
  • Comfortable operating in a polyglot environment. The RxSense AI engineering stack spans Python, .NET, and TypeScript, and you will deploy and support services across all three.
  • Comfortable owning the cost and reliability conversation with both engineering leadership and finance partners.

The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $135,000 - $165,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.

You Will Be

With a small team, this role will focus on our internal operations — not the AI in our product. It covers how every function works, how fast we move, and how much leverage each person has. As we scale toward $300M+ in ARR, the goal is to decouple growth from headcount and build an operation that runs leaner as it gets bigger.

Most of the value comes from re-engineering the work itself, so you will pair deep engineering and applied AI skill with strong business judgment and a relentless focus on outcomes.

Your Area of Focus

AI Strategy & Use Case Discovery

  • Work with the CEO, CFO, and CPO to identify where AI can drive the greatest efficiency and operating leverage across the organization, and prioritize accordingly.
  • Audit and re-engineer business processes before automating them, so we improve how the work is done and not just how fast it runs.
  • Build and maintain an AI Opportunity roadmap that prioritizes use cases by ROI, feasibility and strategic impact in partnership with the functional leaders.

Build the Hardest Workflows

  • Perform deep-dive assessments to identify the highest-impact efficiency opportunities across all operating functions — then build them, don’t just document them.
  • Design and build high-value internal agents and automations that address the hardest problems inside our operating functions. Stay hands-on in the build yourself; this is not a role where you commission others and review outputs.
  • Own the shared patterns for retrieval, agent design, and secure system-of-record connectivity — including MCP servers, agent-to-agent orchestration, and API integrations — with permission-aware access across Gong, Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake, Slack, and Workato.
  • Design multi-agent systems where specialized agents hand off to each other across workflow steps, not just single agent automation.
  • Build and maintain the organizational context layer, the connective tissue that makes Tebra queryable; meeting capture, knowledge connectors, MCP servers into our core systems and permission aware retrieval so agents and people have a single source of truth.
  • Develop and maintain a library of reusable skills, frameworks, and how to guide, allowing one person’s breakthrough workflow scale to the entire organization and the programs compound over time.
  • Own the full lifecycle from rapid prototyping to production-grade deployment, including monitoring, evaluation frameworks, error handling, and iteration based on real usage data.

Governance

  • Define the approved tools, data-handling rules, build standards, and a shared reference architecture for AI across Tebra’s operating functions, in partnership with Legal and Security.
  • Own how agents are deployed and monitored once live, ensuring full HIPAA compliance and strict adherence to our data privacy and security policies for PHI, without slowing teams down.
  • Stand up an AI risk register, acceptable use policy, and audit trail standards for all production agents, and maintain them as the tooling landscape evolves.

Enable the Functions

  • Partner with each function to find high-value use cases and help them build and ship the more routine, accessible agents themselves.
  • Coach AI owners inside each function, and run enablement and fluency programs so adoption scales beyond the central team.
  • Build genuine on-ramps for less-technical teams: role-specific training, prompt libraries, office hours, and ready-to-use templates that make AI approachable across every level of the org.
  • Continuously identify emerging AI tooling, methodologies, and agent frameworks — evaluate new models and techniques to keep Tebra ahead of the curve.

Your Professional Qualifications

Technical Foundation

  • 8+ years in software engineering, applied AI, or technical product roles, with a meaningful stretch spent hands-on and building in production — not directing from a distance.
  • An engineering background you still use. You can read and write code and ship production systems, not only manage people who do.
  • Deep applied AI experience designing and deploying multi-agents systems, RAG pipelines, agent-to-agent orchestrations, MCP servers, and API integrations into systems of record, and LLM-based workflows in production.
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI in a HIPAA-regulated or comparable environment — working within BAAs, maintaining audit trails, and keeping PHI out of non-covered tools.

Business & Operational Judgment

  • A track record on operationally focused technology projects — workflow automation, systems integration, internal tooling — that demonstrably changed how a business runs.
  • Strong business acumen. You can sit with a function leader, understand their workflow end-to-end, and translate it into the right automation — including knowing when the right answer is to redesign the process first.
  • A process re-engineering instinct, with the judgment to fix the work before automating it.

Change Leadership & Adoption

  • A proven track record of driving adoption and behavior change within non-technical teams — not just shipping the tools, but building champions, running training, and sustaining usage until it becomes a habit.
  • Experience leading a small team and coaching others to build while staying hands-on yourself.
  • Excellent communication. You can brief the CEO and pair with an engineer on the same day, and those conversations feel equally natural.

The Systems Readiness and Performance team is the crucial bridge between software development and real-world deployment. We are responsible for driving system design, for verifying and validating the autonomy stack, and for defining, measuring, and validating system performance targets. We work closely with stakeholders in autonomy, infrastructure, and operations to build the definitive safety case for the commercial launch of our fully driverless IONIQ 5 robotaxis in Las Vegas later this year.

We are seeking a talented Principal Engineer to technically oversee the design, development, and deployment of a novel Embodied AI and Large Language Model (LLM)-based monitoring framework for off-board scenario understanding, intelligence evaluation, and root cause analysis. While this role will pioneer future off-board Vision-Language-Action (VLA) integrations for off-board analysis, it requires strong foundations as an Autonomous Vehicle Performance Metrics developer.

You will lead the creation of a specialized, off-board evaluation layer that consumes AV drive logs and fleet data to automatically infer scenario safety and assess driving intelligence without running live on the vehicle. Your architectural designs will integrate with internal systems to form a complete pipeline that identifies safety incidents, enriches them with structured context, and conducts detailed root cause analysis to provide the Autonomy team with actionable direction. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Embodied AI & LLM Framework Oversight: Technically oversee the architecture to identify, describe, and enrich events in historical vehicle logs using Multimodal LLMs.
  • Multi-Modal Data Fusion: Oversee the off-board ingestion and fusion of semantic scene descriptions, ego-centric kinematics, and internal autonomy telemetry to create a holistic diagnostic context for LLM inference.
  • Prompt Engineering & Model Integration: Develop structured prompting templates utilizing Contextual Prompting (CP), Chain-of-Thought (CoT), and In-Context Learning (ICL) to evaluate scenarios.
  • AI Inference & Evaluation Scalability: Architect the integration of foundation models into the Metrics Engine (ME), designing efficient cascade filtering and log slice parallelization strategies to scale high-volume LLM inference across simulation and on-road drive logs while managing computational latency and costs.
  • AV Performance Metrics Foundations: Define, design, and implement key metrics to evaluate autonomous vehicle performance, such as lane change capability, oscillations, and braking.
  • Driving Policy Integration: Deploy and manage a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) vector database containing codified AV Driving Policies to ground off-board LLM evaluations in specific Operational Design Domains.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical escalation point and collaborate with Autonomy (Planner, Prediction, Perception) and Systems teams to deliver high-signal, enriched events.
  • Advanced Physical AI R&D: Drive the transition toward Direct Vector-LLM Fusion utilizing emerging Physical AI ecosystems and open-weights Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models to process telemetry off-board without text-translation bottlenecks.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, applied AI/ML, or autonomous vehicle systems development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for reasoning, parsing, and scene description.
  • Experience with parameter-efficient fine-tuning and deploying open-weights models on internal infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with local and cloud vector databases, such as LanceDB, for housing output vector embeddings.
  • Experience with adversarial scenario generation and closed-loop simulation environments.
  • Strong background leveraging software to develop frameworks, libraries, and tools for calculating and aggregating AV performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of complex system performance evaluation.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and strong understanding of software development principles.

Bonus Points (not required):

  • Experience working with autonomous vehicle sensor data, including its processing and integration.
  • Hands-on experience with data pipeline orchestration tools and distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Expertise managing cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP for processing terabytes of data efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Ray and Ray clusters for scaling Python applications and AI/ML tasks.
  • Expertise with C++ programming for data frameworks.

Success Metrics:

  • Successful deployment of an automated off-board evaluator capable of inferring scenario safety and assessing AV intelligence with a target >90% F1 score for anomaly detection.
  • Successful delivery of high-signal, LLM-enriched events and robust performance metrics that enable Autonomy teams to efficiently diagnose and resolve complex, long-tail behavioral issues.
  • Reduction of the turnaround time required to move from fleet data collection to actionable simulation scenario creation from days to hours.
  • Improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of AV performance evaluation processes.
