Data Analytics Director of Analytics at Focal Systems

Leads the analytics function, owning the data stack, BI strategy, reporting, and team of analysts and analytics engineers.

Exec Remote Posted 7 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Type: Full-time, salaried employment

Location: Remote in the UK only.

Salary Range: ÂŁ121,000 - ÂŁ137,000 dependant on experience + stock options

Focal Systems is the industry leader in retail AI solutions. We are headquartered in San Francisco, California with operations in Canada and the UK, and a tech-hub in Poland. We are a Deep Learning first company. Our mission is to automate and optimize brick and mortar retail using deep learning computer vision. Focal Systems has been deployed at scale with some of the top retailers in the world.

We seek smart, creative and passionate people who want to help build a great and enduring company and deploy Deep Learning to the world!

About the Role

As Director of Analytics, you will own the full path from raw data to decision: the data warehouse, the transformation layer, and the BI tooling analysts and the business actually touch. You will set the technical direction for the analytics stack, lead a small team of analysts and analytics engineers, and be the person executive stakeholders come to for a straight answer backed by solid numbers.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will manage the team, but you are also expected to review models, dig into the warehouse yourself, and make the tooling calls, not just delegate them.

What We Are Looking For

  • You are a rigorous thinker who treats data as evidence, not decoration, and holds your team to that same standard
  • You have strong technical chops in SQL and the modern data stack (warehouse, transformation layer, BI layer), and you can go deep on any of them
  • You have led or grown a team of analysts or analytics engineers, and you know how to hire, mentor, and set a bar
  • You are comfortable owning ambiguous, open-ended problems, from “what should we even be measuring” through to a shipped dashboard
  • You communicate findings crisply to technical and non-technical audiences, including at the executive level
  • You have opinions on BI tooling grounded in experience, not just familiarity, and can make a real build-vs-buy or migrate-vs-stay case

What You Will Be Doing

  • Own the analytics architecture end to end, from the Snowflake warehouse and dbt transformation layer through to the BI/reporting layer used across the business
  • Set and evolve BI tooling strategy, including evaluating whether our current tool, Sigma, remains the right fit versus alternatives like Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Hex, or Mode as the team and data volume grow
  • Lead, hire, and develop a team ofanalysts and analytics engineers
  • Partner with Product, Customer Success, and Engineering to define key metrics, build self-serve reporting, and translate business questions into well-scoped analytical work
  • Establish data modeling standards, testing, and governance across dbt models so the numbers hold up under scrutiny
  • Own data security and access controls across the warehouse and BI layer, ensuring sensitive retail, store, and operational data is properly governed, access is scoped by role, and we meet our customers’ data handling requirements
  • Build and own executive-facing reporting on core business metrics such as product availability, store performance, and inventory accuracy

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in analytics, with at least 3 years directly managing or leading a team
  • Deep hands-on SQL, including complex CTEs, window functions, and query optimization
  • Real experience running a cloud data warehouse, Snowflake strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with dbt or a comparable transformation layer
  • Track record evaluating, migrating, or scaling BI tools, with the ability to speak concretely to tradeoffs between tools like Sigma, Looker, Tableau, and Power BI
  • Experience translating messy operational data into decisions executives act on
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners without authority
  • Comfortable operating remote-first, across a distributed team

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IoT, sensor, or computer-vision-derived data (high-volume, noisy, real-time)
  • Python for analytics engineering or pipeline work
  • Experience scaling an analytics function inside a growth-stage startup
  • Background in retail, grocery, logistics, or other operationally complex environments
  • Experience mentoring managers, not just individual contributors

Data Analytics Associate Distinguished Engineer - Senior Data Leader at Nagarro

Leads enterprise data architecture, platforms, MDM, governance, semantic layers, and hands-on data delivery for complex organizations.

Exec Posted 9 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Company Description

We are a Digital Product Engineering company that is scaling in a big way! We build products, services, and experiences that inspire, excite, and delight. We work at scale — across all devices and digital mediums, and our people exist everywhere in the world (18000+ experts across 37 countries, to be exact). Our work culture is dynamic and non-hierarchical. We are looking for great new colleagues. That is where you come in!

Job Description

We are looking for a senior data leader who has built enterprise data platforms, master data management and semantic layers at real scale — more than once — and who can sit across the table from client data leadership as a thinking partner in the morning and be in the modelling detail with the delivery team that afternoon.

This is not an advisory role with a delivery team attached. It is a hands-on leadership role with a seat at the strategy table.

Qualifications

Experience & Leadership

  • 15+ years in data, with the last several in senior architecture or data leadership roles
  • At least two MDM programmes taken to production, with genuine accountability for match, merge and survivorship decisions — not oversight of someone else’s. This is the requirement we weight most heavily.
  • At least three enterprise data platform builds delivered end to end at large, complex organisations — multi-business-unit, multi-region, heterogeneous source estates
  • Demonstrable experience designing and landing a semantic layer or shared business ontology that survived contact with more than one business unit
  • A track record of making the case for foundation work to executive stakeholders — and holding that sequencing when the pressure is to jump straight to use cases
  • Experience in environments where data arrived through acquisition and accretion rather than design

Technology Depth

We expect real, current, hands-on depth here — not familiarity.

Cloud Data Platform

  • Snowflake to a deep level — architecture, performance, cost, governance, data sharing

MDM

  • Reltio in production, or equivalent enterprise MDM (Informatica, Stibo, Tamr) with a clear view on where Reltio fits

Governance & Catalog

  • Collibra — catalog, lineage, policy, workflow, and how to drive adoption rather than shelfware

Data Quality

  • Soda, Great Expectations or equivalent, implemented as enforced controls in the pipeline

Cloud

  • AWS and Google Cloud — hands-on, both, with a view on when each is the right answer

Modelling & Pipelines

  • Dimensional and data-vault modelling
  • dbt
  • Orchestration
  • Streaming and batch

The strongest candidates tend to have stories like these.

  • You have retired something — a legacy warehouse, a duplicate MDM stack, a reporting layer nobody would let go of — and you can explain how you got the organisation to agree.
  • You have sat in a room with two business owners who defined the same entity differently, and landed a survivorship decision that both could live with.
  • You can explain the difference between a data catalog and a semantic layer to a CFO, in terms of what each one changes about their week.
  • You have turned down or deferred a use case because the underlying data was not ready — and were proved right.
  • Your second domain, second market or second use case was meaningfully faster than your first, and you can say precisely why.

Additional Information

  • This a hybrid role, 1-2 days in office/weekly
  • Salary range: $190K- $240K annual total comp (base + bonuses) + Nagarro benefits

Disclaimer: Nagarro is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will be afforded equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or marital status.

Data Analytics Senior Director, Data Science at Reddit, Inc.

Leads Reddit’s consumer data science organization, setting strategy for experimentation, measurement, causal inference, and ML-driven recommendations.

Exec Posted 27 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Reddit is a community of communities. It’s built on shared interests, passion, and trust, and is home to the most open and authentic conversations on the internet. Every day, Reddit users submit, vote, and comment on the topics they care most about. With 100,000+ active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors, Reddit is one of the internet’s largest sources of information. For more information, visit www.redditinc.com.

Reddit is seeking a Senior Director of Consumer Data Science to lead a multi-team organization that partners across Consumer, Product, Engineering, and the broader business. You will set the strategy and operating model for consumer data science, strengthen the systems and standards that make scientific outputs reliable, actionable, and scalable, and guide high-impact decisions through measurement, experimentation, causal inference, and ML.

This leader will help define how Reddit measures and improves relevance across the consumer journey—from retrieval and ranking to feed, search, recommendations, and community discovery—and will shape the organizational capabilities required to advance these systems over the long term. Accordingly, the role requires the technical depth to evaluate architecture and analytical investments, guide state-of-the-art ML system improvements, and the leadership presence to align senior leaders around difficult tradeoffs.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with senior leaders across Consumer, Product, Engineering, and business functions to define company-level bets, priorities, and tradeoffs.
  • Set the data science strategy for Reddit’s feed, recommendation, search, retrieval, and ranking systems, including objective design, candidate generation, ranking quality, relevance evaluation, experimentation, and long-term optimization.
  • Establish the measurement and experimentation framework for relevance optimization, including offline evaluation, online experimentation, counterfactual analysis, guardrail metrics, metric integrity, and the connection between model improvements and consumer and community outcomes.
  • Translate complex user and community behavior into clear, impartial insights that improve product strategy and consumer outcomes.
  • Establish durable standards for measurement, experimentation, causal inference, reproducibility, privacy, responsible AI use, and self-serve measurement, at scale.
  • Build multi-team roadmaps, operating cadences, and clear accountability that turn company direction into durable delivery.
  • Exercise strong technical judgment across architecture choices, analytical systems, hiring, and sponsorship of high-leverage programs.
  • Build or rebuild systems and practices that make analytical work reliable, adoptable, and scalable rather than dependent on individual heroics.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop exceptional Directors, managers, and IC5+ leaders across multiple teams or pillars.
  • Set a high talent bar through succession planning, calibration, and clear expectations for coaching, performance, accountability, and growth.
  • Create durable cross-org forums and operating mechanisms that improve coordination, culture, and decision quality.
  • Align senior product, engineering, and business leaders on measurement strategy, difficult tradeoffs, and decisions with material multi-year impact.
  • Represent Reddit externally and internally as an acknowledged thought leader and visible culture shaper for rigor.
  • Partner with teams advancing ML and analytical systems that deepen understanding of Reddit’s UGC and community ecosystem.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Deep data science expertise in measurement, experimentation, causal inference, ML, data platforms, and analytical systems, with the technical judgment to set company-scale standards.
  • Experience in UGC or community ecosystems and a strong point of view on how data science can improve consumer experiences while protecting analytical quality, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
  • Proven ability to connect model and system improvements to consumer value, content quality, trust, diversity, healthy participation, and long-term business outcomes—not only short-term engagement metrics.
  • Senior leadership experience leading multi-team or multi-pillar organizations and delivering attributable business impact through durable roadmaps, operating mechanisms, and long-range bets.
  • Proven organization builder with a track record of recruiting and retaining exceptional senior leaders, developing Directors and managers, and creating a healthy, high-trust leadership bench.
  • Exceptional communication and influence with experience aligning senior product, engineering, and business leaders; resolving conflict; and communicating uncertainty, risks, and tradeoffs with intellectual honesty.
