Lead Data Scientist builds probabilistic demand forecasting models from limited historical data to power Scout Motors' business planning and inventory decisions.
Here at Scout Motors, weâre carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again.
But Scout is more than just a brand, itâs a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work.
The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasnât been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements â an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester⢠range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.
At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion.
Join us at Scout Motors and be part of shaping the future of transportation. If youâre ready to drive change and make history, apply now!
Scout Motors is building its first enterprise demand forecast - and thereâs no sales history to build it on.
As a VW Groupâbacked EV company in the run-up to launch, Scout has reservations data, an enthusiastic and loyal community, and a product about to enter the market â but not the years of historical sales a demand model usually leans on. Thatâs the problem this role owns: building a rigorous, probabilistic forecast from the signals that do exist, and growing it into the analytical engine of Scoutâs planning system as real demand data arrives.
This is the first dedicated modeling seat in Integrated Business Planning. Youâll develop the demand forecasting model and own the data behind it â then partner with IT and Product Management to productionize it into the digital IBP product Scout is building, so the forecast lives where the business actually plans and decides.
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
Location & Travel Expectations:
We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. Youâll be comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Youâll take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Hereâs what else youâll bring:
The benefits of joining Scout include the chance to build products and a company from the ground up. This is a chance to create something new and lasting â with an iconic brand at its foundation. In addition, Scout provides competitive compensation and benefits to support your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing. Program specifics are detailed in company policies and employee benefit guides, select highlights:
Scoutâs entire planning system reconciles demand against supply and this is the seat that builds the demand side of that equation. Youâll own the model and the data from version one, with the rare chance to design them right before launch rather than retrofit them under pressure after. As Integrated Business Planning scales and the planning product matures, the person who built the forecast is positioned to grow into deeper technical and team ownership.
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidateâs skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $160,000.00 - $192,500.00
Internal leveling code: IC7

Senior data scientist builds AI/ML solutions that transform client data into actionable insights and business outcomes.
Develops and owns remote sensing data products from infrared imaging missions, designing algorithms for image processing and serving as product owner for customer-facing Earth observation analytics.
Muon Space is building a family of infrared imaging missions designed for global wildfire detection and monitoring, weather and cloud characterization, and space-based environmental monitoring. Muonâs IR Data Products team builds the analytics system that processes the data from our spacecraftâs custom multispectral imaging instruments into data products and analytics for diverse end-user stakeholders from these missions. We are seeking a Remote Sensing Data Scientist to join this team with a focus on Orthomosaic Tile products spanning two of Muonâs core missions.
In the near term, this role will be a key contributor to the development of Orthomosaic Tile products for the FireSat Initial Operating Capability (IOC) constellation â diving deep into real-world data from a brand new system and writing production-ready code that feeds directly into customer-facing services. In parallel, this role will ramp up on Muonâs Space-Based Environmental Monitoring (SBEM) program, leading early product design for the SBEM granule product, authoring technical and customer-facing design documentation, and owning the IR Data teamâs engagement with SBEM stakeholders. Looking ahead to 2027 and the SBEM launch, this role will serve as the full product owner for the SBEM granule product. This is a high-impact, multi-mission role that sits at the intersection of rigorous Earth observation science and fast-moving product development, and is well-suited for someone who thrives on both deep technical work and cross-functional collaboration.
This position can be performed remotely from an approved location.
The salary range for this role is $138,000 - $198,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
Founded in 2021, Muon Space is an end-to-end Space Systems Provider that designs, builds, and operates LEO satellite constellations delivering mission-critical data. Our revolutionary, integrated technology stack enables customers to optimize every dimension of their missions for faster time-to-orbit and superior constellation remote sensing performance. Our state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Silicon Valley is optimized for manufacturing spacecraft and rapid, flexible payload integration at scale. Our mission embraces the entire planet and we believe our team should too. Muon is dedicated to creating a diverse and dynamic company and workforce. We believe in equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, age, national origin, citizenship, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or gender identity. We value diversity in the workplace, and that starts with our applicants. We encourage you to apply, even if you donât check all the boxes, and we look forward to reviewing your application! In addition, if you need a reasonable accommodation as part of your application for employment or interviews with us, please let us know.

Develops radiometric calibration and image processing pipelines for multispectral infrared remote sensing data from spacecraft missions.
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join the team to build out the on-orbit data calibration system.
In this role, the candidate will join Muonâs calibration team to develop calibration and image processing of the unique multi-spectral infrared data from several instrument variations in Muonâs IR missions. As the FireSat constellation scales, this role will take on an expanded mandate that spans both the FireSat Initial Operating Capability (IOC) commissioning and Muonâs Space-Based Environmental Monitoring (SBEM) program. In the near term, the candidate will join the calibration team to commission and calibrate the three FireSat satellites of the IOC constellation, scheduled to launch in Q3 2026. In parallel, the candidate will develop a comprehensive calibration plan for Muonâs SBEM instruments â a next-generation sensor suite featuring additional infrared spectral bands and significantly more stringent radiometric calibration requirements than the FireSat camera. As the SBEM program advances toward its 2027 launch, the candidate will first collaborate with the IR Instrument team on pre-launch calibration activities, then transition to lead the full on-orbit calibration of the SBEM instruments.
