What this role involves

About Us:

Zensurance is redefining commercial insurance for Canadian businesses.

As a leading InsurTech, we make getting the right coverage simple, fast, and accessible through a digital-first experience. Our platform combines advanced technology with deep industry expertise to deliver tailored insurance solutions that help businesses thrive.

Zensurance has been recognized for its rapid growth and industry impact:

Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 (2024, 2025)

Top Insurance Employers (2022)

At Zensurance, we value ownership, collaboration, and innovation. Our team thrives on solving complex challenges, challenging the status quo, and making a real impact in an industry ready for change.

If you’re looking to build something meaningful in a fast-growing, customer-focused company, we’d love to hear from you!

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer, Application Support! Reporting to the Associate Director, IT, this senior technical member of the Application Support team will work across Zensurance’s engineering domains to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex platform issues end-to-end — owning escalated incidents from triage through code-level fixes and deployment.

In this role, you will develop broad familiarity with Zensurance’s systems and codebases, coach and mentor team members, and partner with Engineering Leadership to continuously improve the quality and capability of the Application Support function.

This is a remote-first role within Canada. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities:

Technical escalation & resolution

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Tier 3+ incidents raised by the Application Support team that require deep technical investigation.

  • Investigate escalated issues at the code level — reading, understanding, and modifying production codebases across multiple engineering domains.

  • Take end-to-end ownership of resolutions: diagnose the root cause, implement and test a fix, and deploy to production.

  • Develop a broad working knowledge across Zensurance’s technical domains (Node/TypeScript/AWS) to triage and resolve issues independently, without defaulting to dev-team escalation.

  • Engage engineering domain owners selectively when an issue requires their involvement.

Support team enablement

  • Collaborate closely with Application Support team members to improve their ability to identify, triage, and resolve technical issues.

  • Document resolutions, build runbooks, and maintain the knowledge repository so that common escalations are resolved faster over time.

  • Identify recurring patterns in escalated incidents and drive upstream code or process changes to reduce their frequency.

  • Develop educational materials and provide coaching to help the team build technical confidence.

Process & continuous improvement

  • Collect and analyze incident data to surface trends and recommend data-driven process improvements.

  • Suggest and implement improvements to the escalation workflow, tooling, and support processes.

  • Contribute to cross-team collaboration with engineering, ensuring support insights inform product and platform quality.

  • Manage and respond to escalated tickets within parameters set by Broker Support SLAs.

Mentorship & leadership

  • Act as the senior technical voice within the Application Support team, setting the standard for investigation and documentation quality.

  • Mentor and coach team members, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in accessible terms.

  • Assist Engineering Leadership in continuously improving craft capabilities across the support function.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • University degree or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program (preferably in Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years building rich, complex web or mobile applications.
  • Experience in architecting and augmenting large software systems.
  • Extensive full-stack experience with Node/AWS and the TypeScript ecosystem.
  • Experience with React is a plus.
  • A passion for clean, reusable, and well-structured code.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently.
  • Collaborative work style.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

$104,000 - $145,000 a year

The salary range for this role is $104,000 to $145,000 not including the annual discretionary bonus and any additional performance-based incentives.

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. Engineer Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Partner Integrations at ClickHouse Japan

Senior backend engineer owns end-to-end cloud platform integrations, sets technical standards, and leads production systems for ClickHouse partner deployments.

What this role involves

About ClickHouse

Recognized on the 2025 Forbes Cloud 100 list, ClickHouse is one of the most innovative and fast-growing private cloud companies. With more than 3,000 customers and ARR that has grown over 250 percent year over year, ClickHouse leads the market in real-time analytics, data warehousing, observability, and AI workloads.

The company’s sustained, accelerating momentum was recently validated by a $400M Series D financing round. Over the past three months, customers including Capital One, Lovable, Decagon, Polymarket, and Airwallex have adopted the platform or expanded existing deployments. These customers join an established base of AI innovators and global brands such as Meta, Cursor, Sony, and Tesla.

We’re on a mission to transform how companies use data. Come be a part of our journey!

About the team

Most providers make customers migrate their data to them. We’re doing the opposite: bringing ClickHouse Cloud into the environments our customers already trust, so their data stays useful right where it lives.

Those environments come in a few shapes. Some are major cloud data platforms that run ClickHouse as a native service, so customers get it without leaving the tool they already use. Some are BI and visualization tools that need ClickHouse to show up as a fast, first-class data source behind their dashboards. And some are developer and data platforms we connect through marketplaces and identity federation with a couple of clicks to link an account. The goal is the same every time: ClickHouse should feel like a first-class citizen in every environment.

As the founding backend engineer, you’ll set the technical defaults for this team. You’ll have end-to-end ownership, but you’ll also work inside the constraints of platforms you don’t own: thin documentation, unfamiliar deployment topologies, and timelines governed by partner approval cycles. A lot of the challenge is engineering across trust boundaries you don’t fully control. You won’t be doing it alone. You’ll work closely with the team’s engineering manager and a small founding group that will grow around you, but you’ll be the one setting the technical direction. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, let’s talk.

What you’ll do

You’ll own an integration end to end: the design, the code, and the production system that keeps running after launch. You’re setting the technical defaults a growing team will inherit, so the early decisions matter.

Day to day, that looks like:

  • Owning the architecture: auth and identity flows, multi-tenancy, how data moves and where it’s allowed to live, performance, and what happens in production
  • Running what you build. You’ll be on-call for your own work from early on, before there’s a dedicated platform to lean on, which means owning the infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability behind it
  • Working on top of external platforms you can’t change, and being straight about which risks are yours to manage and which aren’t
  • Partnering closely with the internal teams whose services you depend on: asking clearly, agreeing on interfaces, and finding ways to keep moving instead of waiting around to be unblocked

We’d also expect you to have opinions about where this should go, and to write them down. A lot of what shapes the team’s direction starts as a doc.

About you

You don’t need to have experience of every single point, but these are the attributes of someone who will perform well in this role:

  • 5+ years building software, with a good chunk of it on data-heavy or integration-flavored systems
  • Solid backend and systems instincts. You can reason about deployment topology, multi-tenancy, and data movement, and you’re comfortable owning architectural tradeoffs you’ll have to live with later
  • You’ve worked with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation, and you know how to get it right across a trust boundary
  • You’ve built on someone else’s platform and know what that’s actually like: incomplete docs, unintended breaking changes, etc.
  • You’re comfortable in ambiguity. You can ship before the spec is finished, make sensible calls under uncertainty, and flag the decisions that’ll be hard to undo instead of quietly baking them in.
  • You’re good with other engineers. Much of the work runs through teams you don’t own, and you earn their trust by how you think, not just what you commit.
  • You’re mainly a backend engineer, but you’re comfortable enough in JavaScript / TypeScript to jump in when it helps
  • You use AI tools well and honestly. Reach for Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or whatever helps, and be clear about where you did and didn’t
  • You write well. Most of how we coordinate happens in design docs, PRs, and RFCs

Nice to have

None of these are required, but any of them would be a bonus:

  • Familiarity with a major cloud data or analytics platform ecosystem
  • Real depth in auth and identity federation, or experience shipping through a partner marketplace or certification process
  • Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms, or the isolation and deployment topology behind them
  • Working knowledge of ClickHouse, or another columnar / OLAP engine

Compensation

For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.

These salary ranges reflect what we reasonably and in good faith believe to be the minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation may be higher or lower than the amounts listed, and the ranges may be subject to future adjustments.

An individual’s placement within the range will depend on various factors, including (but not limited to) education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and the needs of the business or organization.

If you have any questions or comments about compensation as a candidate, please get in touch with us at paytransparency@clickhouse.com.

Perks

  • Flexible work environment - ClickHouse is a globally distributed company and remote-friendly. We currently operate in over 20 countries.
  • Healthcare - Employer contributions towards your healthcare.
  • Equity in the company - Every new team member who joins our company receives stock options.

  • A $500 Home office setup if you’re a remote employee.
  • Global Gatherings– We believe in the power of in-person connection and offer opportunities to engage with colleagues at company-wide offsites.

Culture - We All Shape It

As part of a rapidly scaling start up, you will be instrumental in shaping our culture.
